Energy Work, Spiritual Growth & Bypassing
If we connect with vibrational essences, or invite the energies that can work with us on our journey, are we the bypassing?
Bypassing is a term that has gained traction in the last few years in both spiritual and psychological circles. Bypassing describes a process where we will use any psychological techniques or call on spiritual beings or processes to bypass, or rescue us, from painful or uncomfortable feelings. We now have a greater understanding that healing and transformation happen when we have the courage to face and walk through our pain, much like a photon (light particle) ceases to exist as soon as we look at it, our pain transforms as we face it.
In some cases of deep trauma, being able to release the trauma without experiencing it can be really important to someone living through it, and there are some wonderful trauma release techniques that we are becoming aware of such as Brainspotting and EMDR.
Ultimately though, in order to heal, it is now becoming more understood that walking through our pain and discomfort so that we can truly transform it, when we feel able to, have the right support around us, and it is safe for us to do so, can bring a profound healing to our lives and situations.
Shadow work - the process of shining a light into our shadow, so that we can experience more light - is some of the deepest work we can do on ourselves, but it’s hard. It takes bravery, courage, friendship, support, and lots of self-love and forgiveness for ourselves and others. As Brené Brown so beautifully describes in her work, when we address our shame, what we find at the end of it is connection. Our shadows - specifically our shame - cause us to disconnect, and so shining a light on our journey is the ultimate in connection; connecting back in with ourselves, and then being able to connect with others. We are more aligned with ourselves, with our heart’s desires, with our way forward in life.
Bypassing happens when we will do anything we can to stop ourselves looking at our discomfort; and so some feel that it prevents us from truly experiencing healing and transformation (as long as it is safe for us to do so). Bypassing can make how we feel and think wrong, there can be judgement in it, rather than acceptance and love for ourselves and our journey. As Gabor Maté, a leader in trauma and addictions states, “the attempt to escape from pain, is what creates more pain”. If we look to psychological techniques and energies to stop us feeling our discomfort, when we are able to face them, we may get in the way of true healing taking place. Robert Scheinfeld, Gay Hendrinks and others describe beautifully in their work, talk about how we then call in and reclaim our power.
The question becomes what is our intention for using any healing modality or energy? Are we turning to healing modalities and energies to avoid the discomfort that “the work” can bring; to stay in a place of positivity at all times, and deny our pain and shadow that wants to be healed? Or are we inviting them in to help support us as we walk forward on our journey through life, calling on the experience, knowledge and wisdom of others they can bring as we delve into the discomfort, if it is safe to do so, and we are properly supported as we do, and heal that which we are ready to heal?
The Blueprint Essences have been created with the intention to welcome vibrations that support us, alongside any other support we may need, as we journey through the experiences we have in life, including as we look at, experience and transform discomfort. Ultimately they are an invitation to connect with our innate power and magnificence by remembering our blueprint; who we really are, as powerful creative spiritual beings, as Stephen Covey so beautifully said, having a human experience. They are an invitation to deeply honour, love and accept ourselves, and our journey through life, to support us as we are doing the work to heal what we are ready to heal and in so doing reconnect more deeply with the blueprint of our powerful, creative, magnificent selves.
